The School of Nursing formally welcomed sophomores into the study of nursing during the Fall 2023 Pledge Ceremony in the Okey Patteson Auditorium. The nursing pledge is a commitment to demonstrate and respect the moral principles of the nursing profession.
Patient groups who are often underrepresented in health care will benefit from increased health disparities training for medical students and residents at the School of Medicine. A $3 million U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Health Workforce-funded grant focuses on health disparities caused by a growing diversity in patient primary language and disability status.
School of Nursing Keyser Campus nursing students took the initiative to place boxes around campus and gathered donations following Mineral County Faith in Action Food Pantry’s urgent request on social media for food items.
With a new $1.3 million Science Education Partnership Award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health, HSTA will implement an outreach project over the next five years developed to train HSTA students to engage middle school students.
The Faith Community Nursing initiative will be able to further support rural telehealth efforts in southern West Virginia and nursing students will have access to innovative ultrasound technology through two donations from Ultrasound Solutions Corp.
