The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology has announced Sara Druffner and Katie Lee as recipients of the 2023 Gossling Scholarship. Druffner is a fourth-year doctoral candidate studying gastric inflammation and carcinogenesis in the Busada Lab. Lee is starting her fourth year of research on innovative vaccines and therapeutic strategies for infectious diseases in the Heath Damron Lab.

Jay Jacobs, who has been analyzing Mountaineer basketball games for nearly 50 years, has announced his retirement from the Mountaineer Sports Network. Jacobs, 85, will be part of one final men's basketball broadcast when the Mountaineers host St. John's on Friday, Dec. 1, and will be recognized on the Coliseum floor.
