Senior Petal Palmer with the cross country and track and field teams has been honored as a recipient of the 2024 Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award by the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals. The award recognizes student-athletes who have overcome great personal, academic, and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics.

The golf competition continues today (May 15) at the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California.
This marks the second time this season for the recognition for senior Derek Clark with the baseball team who matched a season high with 10 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings last Saturday (May 11) against Kansas State.
Following three home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored in four games this past week, junior JJ Wetherholt with the baseball team has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week.
In the final home game of the season at Kendrick Family Ballpark, the baseball team came away victorious over Kansas State, 12-5, Sunday (May 12). Before the game, WVU celebrated the career of head coach Randy Mazey as he prepares to retire.
The golf team will make its second NCAA appearance since the program was reinstated when the Mountaineers compete in the San Diego Regional in Rancho Santa Fe, California, from today (May 13) through Wednesday (May 15).
