Protecting the University’s digital resources, from systems to data, is a shared responsibility among our entire WVU community.

As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, employees on all campuses must complete the annual FY2027 Cybersecurity Awareness Training course by Friday, Nov. 20.

The training is required by the Information Security Policy for all employees, including faculty and staff, staff emeriti with an active courtesy appointment, graduate assistants, students with an employee role, and shared users.

Knowing how to recognize phishing scams and ransomware helps protect our colleagues, students, and University from both accidental data exposure and deliberate breaches. The 30-minute training helps each of us spot threats before they become problems.

Employees will receive an email from Infosec IQ in their primary WVU email account, indicating that they have been enrolled in the mandatory training. To earn your completion certificate, you must watch the modules and take a brief exam.

Those who do not complete the course will be considered non-compliant with WVU policy and will need to change their login password every 45 days instead of once a year.

If you do not have a WVU email address or do not log into WVU systems for your work, such as summer camp or athletics event staff, you are not required to take the training.

If you supervise someone in this situation who received an enrollment email, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444.
