LGBTQ+ Commission seeking new members

LGBTQ flag

The Commission is a voluntary, action-oriented group of faculty, staff, and students who meet once per month to help foster a welcoming environment.

Working collaboratively with the Center for Community Connections, the commissioners advise on issues related to LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse people at WVU.

More specifically, objectives include the following:

  • Identify barriers that inhibit the advancement of persons from underrepresented and underserved populations.

  • Collect information and conduct research regarding the climate and issues affecting the LGBTQ+ campus community.

  • Recommend policy and practice updates to improve access and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ campus community.

  • Ensure that issues regarding the safety and welfare of LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, students, and guests are addressed

  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with organizations and entities that support the University mission.

Faculty and staff serve one-year terms and may be reappointed, while undergraduate and graduate students serve a one-year term without reappointment.

To join, contact Daniel Brewster, LGBTQ+ Commission chair, at Daniel.Brewster@mail.wvu.edu before Aug. 7.
