To support the annual Blue and Gold Mine Sale, community members and students can drop off unwanted items at any WVU residence hall or the six drop-off locations around Morgantown from May 4-13.
Acceptable items include but are not limited to furniture, clothing, appliances, décor, sporting equipment, electronics and more.
Each year, the WVU Office of Sustainability collaborates with the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties to host the Blue and Gold Mine Sale, an annual yard sale-style event. The sale offers great deals on items donated during the student move-out period.
Annually, about 25 tons of goods are diverted from landfills through this sale, which has raised over $250,000 for the United Way.
The Blue and Gold Mine Sale is one strategy WVU is using to increase its diversion rate, as outlined in the University’s sustainability goals.
