For the third time in University history and the first time since 2017, a Mountaineer athletic team visited the White House and met with the U.S. president for NCAA Champions Day.
President Michael T. Benson and Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker joined the members of the WVU rifle team in Washington Tuesday (April 21) as they celebrated the program’s second straight and nation-best 21st NCAA title.
“We’re incredibly excited and honored to participate in an event and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this," Hayhurst Family Head Coach Jon Hammond said.
“It’s a reflection of the success our team has achieved and the work our student-athletes and staff have put in. Opportunities like this are rare, and to experience it again as a program is something we truly appreciate and do not take for granted.”
