The Office of Sustainability is encouraging faculty and staff to celebrate Earth Week 2026 through a variety of activities designed to support the environment and encourage sustainable living beginning Saturday (April 18).
Saturday (April 18)
WVU Core Arboretum Spring Flower Festival will be held from 2-6 p.m.
This family-friendly event will feature self-guided wildflower tours and other fun activities, along with live music, food trucks in the parking lot.
Sunday (April 19)
Department of Biology Spring Ephemeral Wildflower Walks will be held at 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. each Sunday in April. Register for a wildflower walk.
Monday (April 20)
A campus tree planting will be held form 10 a.m. to noon.
Help the WVU Tree Campus Committee plant a few new trees on the Downtown Campus. Register for the tree planting.
Buzz Brigade: Pollinator Garden Maintenance will be held from 3-5 p.m.
Work alongside members of the WVU Sustainable Landscapes Committee to tidy up a pollinator garden for spring. Volunteers are needed to help pull weeds and clear debris from gardens. Register for the Buzz Brigade.
Tuesday (April 21)
As campus sustainability tour will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Join the Sustainability team outside of the Mountainlair for a 40-45 minute Downtown area of campus walking tour that highlights campus sustainability features. No registration necessary.
Wednesday (April 22)
Earth Day Menu – To celebrate Earth Day, WVU Hospitality Group has curated a unique, plant-based menu that will be served during lunchtime at each dining hall.
Make It, Take It Seed Planting Kit will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Stop by the Mountainlair lobby near the Hatfields entrance to make a free seed planting kit to take home and grow.
Thursday (April 23)
Free Electronics Recycling Day – The campus community is encouraged to recycle personally owned electronics at the WVU Student Rec Center.
Mountain AIR Presentation by WVU Art in the Libraries will take place at 4 p.m.
Drop by the Downtown Library, Milano Reading Room for a presentation by the WVU Art in the Libraries Mountain Artist-in-Residence L. Renée.
Friday, April 24
The Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony will take place at 1 p.m.
Join the WVU Tree Campus Committee as a new tree is planted on the Health Sciences Center Campus near the memorial garden and learn more about what this group is doing to protect and care for current trees and increase tree diversity on campus.
Earth Day on the Green will be held from 3-7 p.m.
Join the Sierra Student Coalition on the Mountainlair Green for Earth Day activities, art vendors, live music, food and more.
