Join talk on unique forests of West Virginia

Experimental Forest Trees

OLLI at WVU and the Committee for Retired Faculty will host “Does West Virginia Have a Rainforest?” by Kirsten Stephan at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 1) on Zoom.

This presentation begins by exploring the definitions of major global biomes and gradually narrows its focus to the environmental conditions in West Virginia. Its central question is whether some of West Virginia’s forests qualify as temperate rainforests.

Regardless of the answer, the presentation will showcase the state’s unique forest plant communities and the ecological factors that shape them.

Stephan is a professor in the forest resources and conservation program at the Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
