Starting Jan. 7, faculty, staff and students will be automatically logged out of the WVU Zoom environment after 24 hours.
Users will need to log back in and reauthenticate, regardless of whether you are using a web browser, desktop app or mobile app.
To minimize disruptions, ITS recommends logging out of Zoom Workplace at the end of every workday and logging back in at the start of each workday. This will ensure you remain connected to Zoom Phone as well.
This change will ensure security alignment between the University’s main Zoom environment and the MDTV environment at the Health Sciences Center, where this daily reauthentication has always been required.
If your 24 hours expires while you’re in a Zoom meeting, you won’t lose access to that meeting. However, you will be logged out of your Zoom account, and you must log back in to join a new meeting in which you are a host or co-host. If you are a participant only, you should not need to log in unless the host has required login as part of the security settings.
This change is not expected to affect the Zoom integration with eCampus.
