Faculty, staff, students and the general public can get a WVU parking citation excused by donating to “Food for Fines,” benefiting The Rack: WVU Student Food Pantry, through Dec. 10.
In exchange for a donation of 10 nonperishable food items — 12 ounces or more recommended — participants can get a maximum of one unpaid parking citation removed from their account, up to a $20 value.
Participants should donate their items on the first floor of Mountaineer Station from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Parking citations that have already been paid cannot be refunded.
Donations are also welcome from those who do not currently have any unpaid parking citations.
Suggested donations include the following:
All types of rice and pasta.
Pasta sauce.
Varieties of soups.
Microwavable meals.
Canned vegetables (corn, carrots, mixed vegetables, tomatoes, peas).
Canned fruits (pears, peaches, mixed fruit, mandarin oranges).
Canned meats (turkey, ham, spam, chicken, tuna).
Beans (black beans, Great Northern beans, cannellini beans, kidney beans).
