Black Friday phone shoppers, don’t lose access to Okta Verify app

Student With Phone

If you are purchasing a new phone, be sure to add your Okta Verify account to your new device before trading in or resetting your old one. This is essential to ensuring your continued and uninterrupted access to WVU systems and services.

ITS strongly recommends all employees and students enroll a secondary device such as a table or add a backup hardware token to your Okta account to support these kinds of transitions

If you don’t add Okta Verify to your new phone before surrendering your old one and you don’t already have a backup device enrolled, you will need to call the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444 to regain access.

Note that the ITS Service Desk operates on reduced hours over holiday breaks and will be closed Wednesday through Saturday of Thanksgiving week, reopening at noon Nov. 30. If you get locked out when the University and Service Desk are closed, assistance won't be immediately available.

Review these directions in the IT Help Center for transferring your Okta Verify Account to a new phone.

When the Service Desk is closed, you can always look up answers to IT questions and check for outages at it.wvu.edu/help. You may also leave voicemail at 304-293-4444 or open a ticket by emailing ITSHelp@mail.wvu.edu, but these won’t be addressed until we reopen.
