Esports players

The WVU Rocket League team was invited to represent WVU Esports at DreamHack from Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

DreamHack is an immersive gaming festival that brings together esports and gaming, art, cosplay, screenings and more.

According to festival administrators, the event featured close to 40,000 visitors from all 50 states and 61 countries, as well as more than 800 creators and 20 esports with $6.6 million in total prizes awarded.

WVU was one of 16 schools invited to the event to compete in the DreamHack Collegiate Rocket League Invitational, taking home first place in the tournament by beating the University of Florida.

This was the second time that WVU Esports competed in a tournament at a DreamHack event. In 2023, the Rocket League team participated in the CRL World Championships in Dallas, where they competed against the best Collegiate Rocket League teams from the United States, as well as countries like Germany, England, Ireland and the Netherlands.

The Mountaineers are currently in the second round of the NACE Varsity Premier national playoffs, as well as the second split of the Collegiate Rocket League regular season.
