Lumber sale to feature lumber from historic E. Moore sycamore tree Nov. 7

The WVU Tree Campus Committee will sell boards made from the historic E. Moore Hall American sycamore tree from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday (Nov. 7) across from the front entrance of the Mountainlair.

The last remaining usable wood from the American sycamore has been milled into pieces of lumber and air-dried for this unique upcycling opportunity.

Boards will be sold for $10 each through cash or check. All proceeds will support continued tree planting and maintenance on the WVU Campus.

After the sycamore’s removal in 2020 to ensure pedestrian and campus safety, the WVU Tree Campus USA committee planted a similar tree species in the same location in 2021.
