Gov. Morrisey brings Mountaineer Mile to 'Backyard Brawl'

Backyard Brawl Morrisey mile with football and helmets

Join Gov. Patrick Morrisey, President Michael T. Benson, University leaders, Mountaineer mascot Cade Kincaid and others for the “Backyard Brawl” Mountaineer Mile, a one-mile walk around Milan Puskar Stadium Saturday (Sept. 13).

The event, part of the Governor’s statewide initiative to create a healthier West Virginia, is a great way to show your WVU pride before the Mountaineers take on the Pitt Panthers.

Open to the public, the free event will kick off at 10 a.m. at the Milan Puskar Center, Hall of Traditions. Early arrival is encouraged.

“This is a great opportunity to come together, get some exercise, and show our West Virginia pride before one of the biggest games of the year,” Morrisey said. “I encourage everyone to come out, walk the mile and cheer on the Mountaineers!”

Participants will have the chance to enter a drawing for two tickets to the game, courtesy of WVU Athletics.

Entry forms will be available at the start of the event, and President Benson will draw the winning ticket immediately following the walk. Participants must be present to win.
