Activate your WVU login account in new Okta platform to avoid disruption

Information Technology Services has successfully moved WVU Login accounts to Okta, a new identity management platform that is now being used to create and manage accounts.

To maintain uninterrupted access to WVU systems, follow the instructions in the activation email you received and reset your password as soon as possible.

Remember that if you work remotely, you should first connect to the Virtual Private Network.

Everyone with an active WVU Login account should have received an email from Okta in both their primary WVU email account and at the personal recovery email address you had on file as of May 30. If you don’t see the activation email, check your other email account, as well as junk and spam folders. You must activate your account within 90 days of receipt.

You will see an application bookmark dashboard upon logging into Okta. However, you also can continue to access applications as you normally do. Over the next several months, more application icons will appear as ITS changes the authentication process for hundreds of apps. During this time, you may see either the old login screen or the new Okta interface when accessing a WVU application.

Once a service is moved into Okta, you will need to have an active Okta account to log in. ITS strongly recommends completing your activation as soon as possible to avoid any potential disruption.

This fall, WVU will retire Duo Security and transition to Okta’s integrated multi-factor authentication app, Okta Verify. However, you will continue to use Duo for now because it is still required for most WVU applications and services.
