WVU recognizes mental health is essential to overall health and plays a crucial role in our ability to thrive personally and professionally.

In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, the WVU Benefits Strategy team is emphasizing the importance of mental well-being in and out of the workplace.

The team encourages you to prioritize your well-being and take advantage of the following programs, resources and benefits available to support your mental health and well-being.

Reach out and talk to someone. The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is a free service available to you and your dependents. FSAP provides a confidential and safe environment to discuss issues and receive resource recommendations.

Learn and practice mindfulness. Through a partnership with WVU Medicine, WVU faculty and staff are welcome to participate in WVU Medicine Mindfulness Summer Series. This series offers an opportunity to pause, breathe and reconnect with what matters most.

Read and connect with your colleagues. All employees are invited to join the FSAP Support Squad’s Book Club. Read and engage in thoughtful discussions on self-help and personal growth. This is a weekly book club meeting on Thursdays at 4 p.m. via Zoom. “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins is the next book of discussion beginning June 5 through July 24. Register to attend.

Make the most of your time off. Summer is a common time to step away from work to recharge, refresh and maintain a healthy work-life balance. WVU proudly offers a comprehensive leave program for leave-eligible employees. We encourage you to check your leave balance in Applaud and coordinate with your supervisor when scheduling leave. As a reminder, any unused floating holiday hours will expire on June 30.

Whether you are seeking support for managing stress, accessing counseling services or exploring wellness programs, we are committed to providing the tools and support you need to thrive.
