Steam outages continue this month

WVU Campus

To accommodate annual enhancements, repairs and testing to the University’s steam infrastructure, the Facilities Management team is working with the WVU steam provider on three planned steam outages.

The Evansdale area of campus steam outage will continue through 6 a.m. Friday (May 23).

Note: The Evansdale Residential Complex and Lincoln Hall will be unaffected during this outage.

The Downtown area of campus steam outage will occur from 6 a.m. Monday (May 19) through 6 a.m. May 23. 

Note: The Life Sciences Building and Field Hall will be unaffected during this outage.

Evansdale area of campus steam outage

All steam across the Evansdale area of campus will be shut down during the outage. Heating, domestic hot water and lab steam will be affected at the following campus buildings:

·   Agricultural Sciences

·   Allen Hall

·   Canady Creative Arts Center

·   Engineering Research Building

·   Engineering Sciences

·   Evansdale Greenhouse

·   Evansdale Library

·   Mineral Resources Building

·   National Research Center for Coal and        Energy

·   Percival Hall

·   Student Recreation Center

Downtown area of campus steam outage

All steam across the Downtown area of campus will be shut down during the outage. Heating, domestic hot water and lab steam will be affected at the following campus buildings:

·   Armstrong Hall

·   Brooks Hall

·   Chemistry Research Laboratory

·   Chitwood Hall

·   Clark Hall

·   Colson Hall

·   Downtown Campus Library

·   Eiesland Hall

·   Elizabeth Moore Hall

·   Hodges Hall

·   Martin Hall

·   Mountainlair

·   Oglebay Hall

·   Purinton House

·   Reynolds Hall

·   Stewart Hall

·   White Hall

·   Woodburn Hall

Heating and domestic hot water also will be affected in the following residence halls:

·   Boreman Hall (North and South)

·   Dadisman Hall

·   Stalnaker Hall

Air conditioning is not expected to be affected during the outages. However, the Facilities team will continually monitor temperatures in campus buildings and residence halls and make any necessary adjustments.

Researchers should consider delaying any new research projects that could be impacted by these outages if at all possible.

We appreciate your patience as we work to complete this critical work at a time that will have the least impact on our faculty, staff and students.
