As part of the planned steam shutdown on the Evansdale area of campus beginning today (May 12) through May 23, a high-pressure smoke test will be conducted to identify potential leaks in the piping system from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow (May 13).
This testing may result in visible smoke emerging from various locations across the Evansdale area of campus, particularly around the Agricultural Sciences Annex and throughout the Engineering buildings complex.
The smoke may resemble that of a fire; however, it is non-toxic and part of a controlled diagnostic procedure.
The University has coordinated with the University Police Department, Morgantown Fire Department and Morgantown Police Department in advance of this activity.
We appreciate the campus community’s understanding and cooperation as we complete this essential infrastructure work.
