Campus community encouraged to attend public forums during HLC accreditation visit

The Higher Learning Commission will be on the Morgantown Campus for its 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation site visit on Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1.

Site team members will be hosting a series of public forums aimed at different campus audiences, and faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the appropriate session or sessions to demonstrate their pride in the institution and investment in the accreditation process. 

All sessions will be held at the Erickson Alumni Center:

Monday, March 31

• 2 to 2:45 p.m. — Undergraduate Student Forum, Salon B

• 2 to 2:45 p.m. — Staff Forum, Salon C

• 3 to 3:45 p.m. — Faculty Forum, Salon B

• 4 to 4:45 p.m. — Graduate Student Forum, Salon C

Tuesday, April 1

• 11 to 11:45 a.m. — Open Campus Forum, Salon C

The sessions will give attendees an opportunity to provide general feedback regarding their WVU experience and discuss specific topics related to the five criteria of the HLC self-study report. 

Louis Slimak, associate provost for curriculum and assessment and the University’s accreditation liaison, led efforts over the last year to gather input and compile the self-study.

The self-study includes reports from across the University System to demonstrate how the institution is meeting the HLC’s five evaluation criteria: 

  • Mission

  • Integrity —  Ethical and responsible conduct

  • Teaching and Learning — Quality, resources and support

  • Teaching and Learning — Evaluation and improvement

  • Effectiveness — Resources, planning and institutional
