New Student Experience off to strong start

Students On Campus

A total of 442 High School Access students were admitted for Spring 2025 admission to WVU using the newly launched Student Experience platform, MyWVU Portal. This is more students than Enrollment Management had anticipated.

Student Experience is one of four workstreams in the WVU Modernization Program, a multi-year initiative to redesign and streamline the way the University does business, and improve the experiences of students, faculty and staff on all campuses.

The overarching program aims to create a modern, intuitive experience through the Workday Business Modernization project, along with an engaging, seamless and personalized journey for prospective students from application to enrollment and beyond.

Today’s higher education landscape is a much more competitive and fast-paced environment than when the current set of WVU tools and business processes were created. To remain competitive, the University needs systems and processes that allow us to innovate in ways that support students and helps them easily and intuitively navigate WVU admission processes.

“Through our several campuses, plus online programs, we want WVU to be the home for all West Virginians and beyond, no matter their educational goals — undergraduate, graduate, professional, vocational or occasional,” Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management Steve Hahn said. “The MyWVU Portal will be the gateway to an enriched and engaging experience for our applicants and students.”

The overall Student Experience project allows prospective students to receive personalized communication, seamlessly register for events and schedule visits. It also contributes to a simplified, student-centric application experience with one application for all campuses.

According to Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Operations Joseph Cook, “We are now in a position to unify our admissions processes across the WVU System. The soft launch allowed us to enhance cross-campus collaboration, leverage technology, and completely reimagine the way we serve our students. The future is bright.”

The platform will be expanded to all undergraduate and graduate students across the WVU System this summer for the Fall 2026 admission cycle. The project team will be reaching out in the coming months to units that will need system access and training.
