As fans prepare to travel to the Coliseum to cheer on the Mountaineers, the WVU Police Department shares the following safety tips.
Stay alert while walking or driving. Both pedestrians and drivers should follow the instructions of all police officers directing traffic in the area of the Coliseum. Pedestrians should only cross at marked crosswalks and intersections or areas that police officers have designated as walkways. Drivers should reduce their speed, yield to pedestrians and be extra cautious, especially during night games when it can be harder to see single pedestrians.
Under the West Virginia Campus Self-Defense Act — commonly referred to as “Campus Carry” — as passed by the West Virginia Legislature in 2023, fans cannot legally bring a pistol or revolver to a WVU Athletics event at the Coliseum. Weapons detection devices will be utilized at the gates for all fans.
The WVU clear bag policy remains in effect at all Athletics ticketed events. Fans are limited to one bag per person. Find more information on the clear bag policy.

Be respectful towards fellow fans — home and away fans alike — as well as campus property while cheering on the Mountaineers.
If you need help at any time, dial 911, contact UPD at 304-293-3136 or talk to an officer working the event.
