School of Art and Design holds pottery sale

Four pieces of pottery

Unique handmade pottery from students and faculty in the ceramics program will be available for purchase from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday (April 17) in the Canady Creative Arts Center.

The semi-annual sale will offer a large variety of options, including berry bowls, mixing bowls and platters.

“The sale is an excellent opportunity to support the ceramic arts while finding pieces to cherish for decades,” said Robert “Boomer” Moore, associate professor of ceramics. “Each piece at our sale has had as many as six students that have helped in the process of producing it. They are unique compared to mass production line pieces.”

All proceeds from the sale go towards scholarships, student activities and the China Ceramics program – which takes students overseas to study with some of the most renowned ceramic artists.

“Community members have supported the WVU Ceramics sale for many years,” Moore said. “It is a wonderful chance for the community to get quality utilitarian pieces and help support students at the same time.”
