The School of Music will host the inaugural event on April 13, featuring a powerful roster of visiting industry professionals and an action-packed day of specialized workshops that will offer attendees exclusive access to the inner workings of the modern music industry.
Visiting industry professional presenters include the following:
Steve Marcantonio, Grammy Award-winning recording engineer and producer,
Reed Turner, co-owner of True Grit Management,
Christian Lopez, Americana artist and Grand Ole Opry performer,
Geena Jefferies Mattox, Broadway performing artist in “Phantom of the Opera,”
Katie Mischler, director of talent and artist marketing for Founders Entertainment, and
Sarah Giles, booking assistant for Reliant Talent agency.
Participants will have an opportunity to attend a variety of immersive workshops and seminars on songwriting, audio engineering and recording, talent buying, live event marketing and agent-artist relationships. A professional Q&A forum, tailored keynote addresses and one-on-one mentoring sessions will also be offered.
Beyond its educational aspects, the conference serves as an opportunity for community members, industry leaders and prospective students to experience the innovative environment found at WVU.
“We envision this conference as more than an event — it is a strategic endeavor to expand connections and cultivate partnerships within our community and businesses in the music industry,” said Bryan Griffith, senior music business and industry student and event organizer.
By facilitating this intersection of academia and industry, WVU aims to broaden the horizons of its students, providing a comprehensive educational experience that extends beyond the classroom.
