OLLI, Committee of Retired Faculty present ‘Esports: Beyond Gaming’

While the esports industry is going through a market correction, it still boasts multi-billion dollar annual revenues and is globally renowned for its competitive nature and entertainment value.

Christopher Scroggins, academic director of Esports and a service assistant professor in the College of Applied Human Sciences, will provide an overview of the esports industry, discuss the current esports education landscape and outline the benefits of implementing a holistic esports program at 2:30 p.m. March 6 on Zoom. 

Additionally, he will summarize current esports opportunities at WVU and how the program plans to set itself apart from others.

Scroggins is also the CEO and co-founder of Esports Development and Growth Enterprise, and a former instructor of Esports at Shenandoah University. 

He has presented at numerous academic conferences, headlined multiple podcasts, and appeared on major media and news sources such as NPR. His specialty lies within esports curriculum development, esports business and strategic planning.
