University community members who are passionate about using research and evidence in local decision-making processes are invited to attend “Civic Science 101” hosted by the West Virginia Local Science Engagement Network from noon to 1 p.m. March 5 on Zoom.
Presenters include the following:
Danielle Trumble, a member of Morgantown City Council,
Mason Arbogast, engagement coordinator for the Center for Community Engagement, and
Kevin Orner, assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
The presenters will provide concrete ideas of how scientists can learn from and contribute to civic science, and engage in their local communities. Orner will also provide examples of how he incorporates civic science into his teaching and research.
