Weight Loss and Wellness pilot project launches

Feet on a Scale

WVU Medicine Medical Weight Management and the Finding Wellness Program have partnered to launch a new comprehensive obesity treatment program available to WVU Medicine employees and covered family members. Participants must be 18 or older and have a Body Mass Index of 40 or more.

The one-year program will be offered virtually and will include after-hours appointments for convenience.

This program aims to replace a fragmented approach to obesity with a standardized treatment pathway that will provide a better experience and care by merging the successful behavior change programs offered by WVU Medicine.

Allowing for abundant support for participants throughout this process, the multidisciplinary team consists of physicians, advanced practice providers, registered dietitians, health coaches and nurses.

The first 250 eligible employees and covered family members to send an email to MWMwellnessProgram@hsc.wvu.edu will receive an intake form through MyChart.

Once the questionnaire is completed, participants will be scheduled for their first appointment with a health coach.

"This initiative is the result of a collaboration among various stakeholders. We are enthusiastic about the positive impact this program will have on the health and well-being of employees,” said Dr. Laura Davisson, director of Medical Weight Management.
