“Go 1st House Band: Coffee Shop Edition,” a spirited collection of songs showcasing the collaborative effort of Go 1st student musicians, will be released today (Dec. 1).
The acoustic album is the second of its kind to be collaboratively written, recorded and produced entirely by WVU students.
The album moves from the honey-smooth vocals of Moundsville native Hannah Lynch on track “Westward” to the lulling, piano-decorated melodies of “Secrets.” Elizabeth Smith, album release manager for the project, is also a featured performer on “Façade.”
The creative process for the album began last spring, with students meeting in small songwriting groups to compose each track collaboratively.
“The House Band provides students the opportunity to not only write music together, but also produce the music from start to finish,” Smith said. “Listeners can expect new releases from the Go 1st House Band in the coming year.”
The album can be heard on all major streaming platforms.
Go 1st Records is one of the University’s two student-run record labels.
Directed by Darko Velichkovski, the Mon Hills Music Group serves as a collection of independent record labels and acts as the professional component of the music industry program.
