Information session planned for Army scholarship program

Towers

The cost of post-baccalaureate medical programs, such as veterinarian, dental or nurse practitioner, deters many students from applying.

The U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program provides tuition assistance and monthly stipends in exchange for future service as an Army medical professional, helping make dreams of becoming a doctor, dentist or veterinarian a reality.

Attend an information session to learn more about these benefits at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Bennett Tower, Room G05. ROTC pathways for freshman and sophomore students will also be discussed.

Program benefits include the following:

  • 100% tuition

  • $2,700-plus monthly stipend for 10.5 months/year

  • $20,000 accessions bonus

  • No malpractice insurance required

  • Commissioning as a second lieutenant while in school and advancement to captain upon graduation.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, born or naturalized, to qualify for the scholarship opportunity.

All students with aspirations of these various medical careers are invited to attend the session to explore the options and requirements. Current medical and dental school students are encouraged to attend as one-, two- and three-year scholarships are available for current students.

Seating is limited to 110 participants. To attend, RSVP to John Dowling at John.Dowling@mail.wvu.edu.

Parking will be available in Lot 50, located behind Towers, and is free after 4 p.m.
