Attend ‘Beyond Walls’ screening this week

Beyond Walls

The WVU Higher Education in Prison Initiative will host this selection of short films on prison industrial complex abolition, followed by a panel discussion, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 26) on Zoom.

The Beyond Walls compilation shares stories of individuals resisting the prison industrial complex while demonstrating the importance of relationships inside and out as well as the generational harm and next steps to build a world without police and prisons.

The panel will consist of individuals who were previously incarcerated and involved in abolition and work to decrease suffering.

The WVU Higher Education in Prison Initiative is hosting this event in partnership with Working Films, the Appalachian Prison Book Project, West Virginia Innocence Project, School of Social Work, Department of English and the American Friends Service Committee.

We hope you will consider attending this event that will educate our communities about the harm of confinement and potential steps forward.

Register to attend.
