The WVU Women’s Resource Center invites faculty, staff, students and community members to help honor those murdered by acts of domestic violence at the annual exhibit featuring a collection of life-sized silhouettes that represent West Virginians who were killed by a family member or intimate partner.
The exhibit will be in the Mountainlair Vandalia Lounge from Oct. 16-20, and at the Health Sciences Center Pylons from Oct. 20-27.
A Resource Expo will also be held in the Vandalia Lounge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Several organizations will be on hand to provide information on available services, resources and programming for those who have suffered from domestic violence or for those who know family or friends who have experienced domestic abuse or violence.
Organizations include:
Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center
WELLWVU
Carruth Center
LGBTQ+ Center
Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
As part of a national initiative to raise awareness on the tragedy of domestic violence, viewers are encouraged to remember those who were murdered by acts of domestic violence, help raise awareness in our local communities, connect people to local resources, advocate to end domestic violence and legislate to hold abusers accountable, and help end the vicious cycle of domestic violence.
The exhibit was funded in part by the Big XII Violence and Discrimination Awareness and Prevention Fund.
