Provost’s Office clarifies program review self-study process, reminds units of Aug. 1 deadline

campus

Departments and other academic units with programs identified for further review as part of the current Academic Transformation process are reminded to submit their self-study forms by the end of the day on Aug. 1.

The Office of the Provost has also provided several points of clarification regarding the self-study process, and updates were made to the form based on feedback from academic deans, chairs, program leaders, Faculty Senate leaders and faculty members.

In response to feedback, the self-study form (Question 6.2) and rubric were updated to include the request for each unit to provide plans or ideas for significant changes to its operations, structure, offerings or personnel designed to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Academic deans, chairs and program leaders were informed of this change to the form.

The Provost’s Office also reminds department chairs and academic leaders they are expected to give faculty and staff the opportunity to provide feedback on the self study. Faculty may use the online comment form to submit feedback, if needed.

Specific questions about completing the updated version of the self-study form should be directed to Associate Provost Lou Slimak at louis.slimak@mail.wvu.edu.

A final virtual preparation session is being held today (July 27) from 9-10:30 a.m. for deans, directors, chairs and faculty who are involved in preparing self studies.

Join the meeting.

General questions about academic transformation or the program review process can be submitted to transformation@mail.wvu.edu.
