West Virginia University, including WVU TechPotomac State CollegeExtension offices and WVU Research Corp., will close Monday (July 3) following a declaration issued by Gov. Jim Justice proclaiming a state holiday in recognition of Independence Day.

While undergraduate and graduate classes will be canceled on July 3, some essential campus services will remain open.

WVU Health Sciences faculty, staff and students who are working in patient care areas or in clinical rotations should check with their dean, program director or clinic manager.

Further, on-campus tours for first-year and transfer students will continue as planned on July 3. WVU Extension will provide separate guidance regarding summer camp activities.

The closure will be effective for personnel beginning at midnight through 11:59 p.m. on July 3. Some employees will be contacted by their supervisor with additional information regarding a holiday work schedule to support ongoing campus services.

Employees with questions or concerns should contact their supervisor.

Because the University was already scheduled to be closed Tuesday (July 4) for Independence Day, WVU will reopen on a normal operating schedule and classes will resume on Wednesday (July 5).
