Information Technology Services reminds faculty and staff on all campuses that they should not use WVU-issued email accounts for personal business such as banking, bill payment, travel planning, social media, entertainment services like Netflix, or access to personal services related to health care or investment planning.
The University’s email policy permits only minimal or “incidental” use of an account for personal business. Routine, recurring use for access to non-WVU services is prohibited. The policy also specifies that no employee should expect complete confidentiality or privacy when using a WVU email account, and it prohibits the automatic forwarding of WVU email to a personal email account.
Any benefits-eligible employee considering retirement can request an @retiree.wvu.edu address as part of the benefits administration process. This includes employees at the Health Sciences Center, and the Beckley and Keyser campuses. Review these common questions about retiree email.
The IT Help Center has instructions on how to export your contacts so you can add them to a personal account or to your retiree account once it’s available.
