WVU Libraries to evaluate FY24 purchasing and subscriptions

WVU downtown library

WVU Libraries will begin an evaluation of purchases and subscriptions to scholarly and classroom information resources with an aim to reduce in Fiscal Year 2024.

Library administrators, with the assistance of collection development experts, will consider content that overlaps with existing resources or is readily available through Interlibrary Loan

Other criteria evaluated in making these decisions include usage data, cost per use and centrality of the content to the discipline, including for the Health Sciences Center and College of Law. The collective impact of the reductions across disciplines will also be considered.

Faculty and researchers are encouraged to leverage Interlibrary Loan for items the University does not own and to seek the assistance of liaison librarians to identify existing library collections and low-cost alternatives.
