The Faculty Justice Network invites the University community to attend the last Faculty Talks event of the semester from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (May 4) via Zoom.

Enkeshi Thom El-Amin, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, will lead a discussion exploring the link between race and place.

Her presentation, “Remembering the Bottom: Street and Feets of the Neighborhood,” will also feature her latest research that examines how Black spaces in the city of Knoxville, Tennessee were impacted from a three-tier urban renewal project that occurred during the 1950s to the 1970s.

The 2023 Faculty Talks series spotlights the research scholarship of FJN faculty and graduate students.

Register to attend.

Housed in the Office of the Provost, the Faculty Justice Network offers an inviting space for racially minoritized faculty members to gather and engage in programs and events that address members’ unique social, cultural, academic and professional development needs and interests.
