Join the Office of the Provost and the WVU Benedum Distinguished Scholars for an evening of dialogue about research, passion and purpose.
Scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, the 2023 Benedum Scholars Showcase will be an in-person event at the Canady Creative Arts Center Gladys G. Davis Theatre.
A live-streaming option will also be available for virtual viewers on the website.
Styled after James Lipton’s Emmy-award winning series “Inside the Actors Studio,” “Inside the Scholars Studio” will highlight short videos of the faculty members who were named as the Benedum Distinguished Scholars last spring, followed by a live panel discussion and Q&A session.
The following scholars who were selected during the 2021-2022 academic year will be presenting. They include:
Co-recipients Joel Beeson and Dana Coester, both professors of journalism in the Reed College of Media, who were selected for the Benedum Distinguished Scholar Award in the Humanities and the Arts for their collaborative research and creative investigative work documenting the recruitment techniques of domestic white supremacist and extremist groups in Appalachia.
Christina Duncan, professor of psychology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, who was selected as the Benedum Distinguished Scholar in Behavioral and Social Sciences for her significant contributions to the research in and practice of pediatric psychology.
