Qualtrics available for survey, poll and form needs

Information Technology Services reminds faculty and staff on all WVU campuses that they have free access to Qualtrics, a powerful, industry-leading software for conducting surveys and polls, and creating online forms.

Here are a few reasons to consider Qualtrics.

Cost-efficient. There’s no need to buy licenses for Survey Monkey or other external tools when Qualtrics is available at no charge to employees and students.

Customizable. Qualtrics surveys can be simple, with yes/no or multiple choice questions, or more complex, with multi-level questions and video embedding options. Tailor it to your needs and track responses.

Secure login. Requiring WVU Login credentials lets you limit responses to WVU users.

Collaboration. Team members can collaborate on surveys or forms in real time and pull from a group library of saved resources such as images and pre-written questions.

WVU support. Although ITS doesn’t have the resources to build surveys for you, the team can help you get started, answer specific questions and offer guidance. Qualtrics also has experts available to help.

Qualtrics should never be used to collect data the University identifies as Sensitive Data. The Health Sciences ITS team supports a HIPAA-compliant version of Qualtrics for researchers, faculty and staff collecting HIPAA-covered data. This version of Qualtrics is more secure, but less flexible and is granted on a case-by-case basis.

Note: HSC researchers can use WVU Qualtrics if they are not conducting research for a WVU HIPAA-covered entity that involves the collection of protected health information or sensitive data. Researchers seeking more information should review this guidance.
