Center for Resilient Communities hosts International Mountain Day event

Fall Hike

Join the Center for Resilient Communities for a concert and speaker from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 8) in the Gluck Theatre of the Mountainlair. 

This year's International Mountain Day theme is “Women Move Mountains.”

Enjoy music from students in the WVU Flute Studio and Morgantown Learning Academy, and hear an address on "Gratitude and Resilience" by Maria Gunnoe, a world-renowned activist and director of the Mother Jones Community Foundation.

Music will include:

  • A sing-along of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” led by students and alumni from the Morgantown Learning Academy.

  • “I Love the Mountains,” an American folk song arranged by Chloe Upshaw, performed by students from the Morgantown Learning Academy.

  • “The Great Train Race,” by Ian Clarke, performed by the WVU Flute Studio.

  • “Winter Spirits” for solo flute, by West Virginia native Katherine Hoover (1937-2018), performed by Chloe Upshaw.
