Enhance your teaching skills while earning credentials

In partnership with the Association of College and University Educators, WVU is offering all instructors, including adjuncts and GTAs, the opportunity to pursue a certificate in effective college instruction at no cost.

This is the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education.

Four cohort-based online courses focused on learning and implementing evidence-based teaching practices are offered each academic year.

“Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners in Your Online Course” and “Promoting Active Learning Online” will be held Jan. 23 - March 5.|

“Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning” will be held Jan. 23 - March 12, pending the acquisition of funding.

“Designing Learner-Centered and Equitable Courses,” modality independent, will be held during summer 2023.

Instructors have the option of completing as many or as few courses as they prefer (one per semester) and will receive a micro-credential following the completion of each course.

Instructors who choose to complete a total of four courses will receive a teaching certificate endorsed by the American Council on Education.

If you have already earned the ACUE Effective Teaching Practices certificate, you can complete three courses to earn an Advanced Certificate in Effective College Instruction.

The deadline to register for the spring 2023 courses is 5 p.m. on Jan. 5.

Space is limited.
