The Center for Resilient Communities will host events in celebration of International Mountain Day as part of the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development on Dec. 8 and 9.
This year’s theme is “Women Move Mountains.”
Join us for a concert and speaker from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Gluck Theatre of the Mountainlair. Enjoy music from students in the WVU Flute Studio and Morgantown Learning Academy, and hear an address on "Gratitude and Resilience" by Maria Gunnoe, a world-renowned activist and director of the Mother Jones Community Foundation.
The CRC will also host the “Women Move Mountains Panel'' to celebrate women in West Virginia who are committed to creating change around the environmental justice movement beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in Room 325, Brooks Hall. Our aim is to facilitate a meaningful conversation around their work, source of strength and potential solidarities as well as priorities for advancing change in 2023.
