10 Mountaineers of Distinction candidates

Ten WVU seniors who have demonstrated exemplary academic performance and extracurricular involvement throughout their college years are vying to be named the 2022 Mountaineers of Distinction, a Mountaineer Week tradition.

These honorees, who represent a wide range of disciplines but share impressive academic achievements and service to their communities, were selected by an interview selection panel from a pool of 79 students who were nominated across campus.

Mountaineers of Distinction finalists are: Aubrey Cumberledge, a biology major from Wallace; Samuel Cyphert, a mechanical and aerospace engineering major from Morgantown; Michael DiBacco, a biology and English major from Elkins; Matthew Hudson, an immunology and medical microbiology major from Scott Depot; Lydia Knutsen, an industrial engineering major from Glen Dale; Giana Loretta, a political science, philosophy and communication studies major from Shinnston; Sonia-Frida Ndifon, a biomedical engineering major from Elkridge, Maryland; Elizabeth Sexton, an accounting and finance major from Williamstown; Trevor Swiger, a communication studies and interdisciplinary studies major from Grafton; and Callyn Zeigler, a computer engineering and computer science major from Charleston.

The winners will be announced during halftime at the WVU vs. Oklahoma football game Saturday (Nov. 12) at Milan Puskar Stadium.
