Silent Witness Exhibit, Resource Expo to honor domestic violence victims

Silent Witness Exhibit

The WVU Women’s Resource Center invites faculty, staff students and community members to help honor those killed in acts of domestic violence at this week’s annual Silent Witness Exhibit from Oct. 18-21 in the Vandalia Lounge of the Mountainlair.

The exhibit includes a collection of life-sized silhouettes representing West Virginians murdered by a family member or intimate partner.

Several groups will be on hand at the Resource Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 20) to provide information on available services, resources and programming at WVU and across West Virginia for those who have experienced domestic violence or for those with family or friends who have experienced domestic violence.

Participating organizations include the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center, WellWVU, Carruth Center, LGBTQ+ Center and the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

As part of a national initiative to raise awareness on the tragedy of domestic violence, viewers are encouraged to remember those who were murdered by acts of domestic violence, help raise awareness in our local communities, connect people to local resources, advocate to end domestic violence, legislate to hold abusers accountable and help end the vicious cycle of domestic violence.

The exhibit was funded in part by the Big 12 Violence and Discrimination Awareness and Prevention Fund.
