Sean Manning

Sean Manning joins the University Relations/Communications team as news and information manager following a sports reporting career that included different roles with West Virginia Illustrated and The Dominion Post.

For the past three years, Sean has worked as sports editor for The Dominion Post while also serving as the newspaper’s beat reporter for WVU football. His last official assignment was covering the epic win in Blacksburg, Virginia, for the Mountaineers against Virginia Tech to retain the Black Diamond Trophy.

In his new role, Sean will oversee news tracking and news analytics for WVU under the direction of Shauna Johnson, director of news communications. He’ll also support internal and external messaging via WVUToday, E-News and U-News in coordination with Tami Allen, internal and student communications manager, and Holly Thubron, managing editor for WVUToday.

“The experience Sean brings to our unit is invaluable,” April Kaull, executive director of communications, said. “A proud WVU graduate, he’s told WVU’s stories for years and now he’ll do that in a different way for the benefit of the University as a whole.”

Sean lives in Morgantown with his wife and daughter.
