Dear WVU faculty and staff,

My name is James Goins Jr. (he, him, his) and I serve as your Director of Equity Assurance & Title IX Coordinator. I am responsible for the University’s compliance to WVU’s Board of Governors Governance Rule 1.6 and with Title IX, a federal law that protects people from discrimination based on sex/gender in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

We each play a role in ensuring WVU is a safe and welcoming environment. Discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct—including sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and retaliation—do not align with WVU’s Core values and are not tolerated in our community. The Equity Assurance Office investigates and responds to these issues and provides support and resources to those affected across all WVU campuses.

WVU community members are encouraged to report incidents to the Equity Assurance Office from an online form. There are confidential and anonymous reporting options available as well. You can text or call WVU’s 24/7 anonymous call line at 304-906-9930 to receive anonymous support and resources. Reporting will not change what happened to you or a member of our community, but it may help stop it from happening to someone else.

Together, we can take a stand to create a community in which all members feel respected and safe.

Please visit the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion website for more information about the programs and opportunities on our campus.

Sincerely,

James Goins
