As part of the University’s ongoing academic transformation efforts to enhance student success opportunities, the Office of the Provost has implemented a new virtual support feature to answer students’ questions around-the-clock. Through WVU’s new AI chatbot, Morgan, students can ask advising, tutoring, financial aid or registrar questions on select websites all day, every day.
According to the vendor that powers the “Ask Morgan” AI services, 40% of student inquiries happen after hours. Luckily, Morgan is available 24/7 to answer students’ questions or direct them to a person who can best assist them during regular business hours.
“We’re excited to introduce WVU’s new chatbot to offer academic guidance to students in real-time, on their time, as they chart their path toward graduation,” Evan Widders, associate provost for undergraduate education, said. “We recognize that many of our students’ schedules don’t fit into a typical 9-5 business model, so we hope Morgan’s 24/7 virtual assistance will better accommodate their needs outside of the classroom, in the evenings and on weekends.”
Students can reach Morgan on the following websites from their computer, laptop, tablet, mobile device or smartphone:
Advising: advising.wvu.edu
Financial Aid: financialaid.wvu.edu
Tutoring: tutoring.wvu.edu
Registrar’s Office: registrar.wvu.edu
Throughout the semester, Morgan will also text students reminders about important dates, deadlines and helpful University resources.
Faculty, staff and students can learn more about Morgan by visiting WVU’s new advising website and clicking on the “Questions? Ask Morgan” webpage.
