Earn credentials while enhancing your teaching skills

Teaching And Learning Commons New Graphic

In partnership with the Association of College and University Educators, West Virginia University is offering all instructors, including adjuncts and GTAs, the opportunity to pursue a Certificate in Effective College Instruction at no cost.

This is the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education.

Four courses that are focused on learning and implementing evidence-based teaching practices will be offered over the course of an academic year. All courses will be cohort-based and delivered online.

The following courses are being offered during the fall semester:

• Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment (9/19–11/13)

• Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners (9/19–11/6)

• Promoting Active Learning (9/19–11/6)

You have the option of completing as many (or few) of these courses as you prefer (only one per semester) and receiving a micro-credential at the end of each. If you choose to complete a total of four courses, you will receive a teaching certificate at the end that is endorsed by the American Council on Education. If you have already earned the ACUE Effective Teaching Practices certificate, you can complete three courses to earn an Advanced Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
