Upcoming planned steam outages for the Evansdale campus

Evansdale Campus

The Facilities Management team is working with WVU’s steam provider on a planned steam outage for the Evansdale campus May 21-28, beginning at 6 a.m.

An additional outage will affect the Evansdale campus June 3- 7.

All steam across the Evansdale campus will be shut down during the outages. Heating, domestic hot water and lab steam will be affected at the following campus buildings:

  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Allen Hall
  • Creative Arts Center
  • Engineering Research Building
  • Engineering Sciences
  • Evansdale Greenhouse
  • Evansdale Library
  • Mineral Resources Building
  • National Research Center for Coal and Energy
  • Percival Hall
  • Student Recreation Center

Heating and domestic hot water also will be affected in the following residence halls:

  • Bennett Tower
  • Braxton Tower
  • Brooke Tower
  • Lyon Tower

Air conditioning is not expected to be impacted during the outages. However, the Facilities team will continually monitor temperatures in campus buildings and residence halls and make any necessary adjustments.

Researchers should consider delaying any new research projects that could be impacted by these outages if at all possible.

A similar steam outage for the Downtown campus will take place Friday, June 3, through Saturday, June 11.

These outages are designed to accommodate enhancements, repairs and testing to the University’s steam infrastructure.

We appreciate your patience as we complete this critical work at a time that will have the least impact on our students, faculty and staff.

If you have questions or concerns about the outage, contact your building supervisor to discuss your specific needs. You also may contact Facilities and Services at FacilitiesandServices@mail.wvu.edu with any general questions.
