WVU to celebrate 2022 Graduate Student Appreciation Week

Students Walk Through Woodburn Circle

WVU and the Office of Graduate Education and Life will celebrate Graduate Student Appreciation Week April 4-9.

Help celebrate graduate and professional students by taking a moment to express your appreciation for the important contributions they make to our University.

These students provide invaluable services to WVU through their teaching, research and service activities. Many graduate and professional students will go on to careers that enhance the well-being of others across the state, nation and world. These students work very hard, make sacrifices and often face challenges on the path to earning an advanced degree. This week is a good opportunity to commend these students for their determination and commitment to higher education and to WVU.

“Our graduate students play a vital role at West Virginia University. Not only do they contribute to our research, teaching and service mission as a land-grant institution, but they also help to raise the stature of WVU through their contributions to scholarship and creative work,” Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Maryanne Reed said. “They are the leaders of tomorrow who are already making an impact on our communities, and I am grateful they have chosen WVU to be their springboard to the future."

Along with other WVU units, OGEL is sponsoring various recreational activities and scheduling professional headshots for graduate and professional students this week.

Graduate and professional students with family are invited to come out and have fun Wednesday (April 6) from 5-7 p.m. for the Family Pizza Night on the Mountainlair Plaza. This is an event co-sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Senate. Find more information about GSAW.
