The next Children on Campus quarterly meeting will focus on higher education resources available for youth who have been in foster care. The meeting is set for Wednesday, March 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Everyone is welcome to attend.

“The typical age to enroll in higher education comes just as these youth are aging out of the foster care system, often without family or other support to help launch them into adulthood,” said Cortney Simmons, educational outreach specialist in the WVU Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’s Office of Equity Assurance. “There are resources available to help our youth in foster care access and navigate through higher education. Our panelists will help us all learn about them so we can advise and mentor these young people.”

Panelists include:

  • Pamela M. Woodman-Kaehler, Director, WV Foster Care Ombudsman Program.

  • Michelle Fleece, Community Support Specialist, MODIFY Program.

  • George Yanchak, Director, WVU Student Financial Services.

  • Kate Kim, Student Service Manager, WVU Student Financial Services.

Register in advance for this quarterly meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
